Artificial Intelligence: How should the people of faith respond?

Artificial intelligence and faith have had quite a long history of differences sometimes peaking to the level of confrontation. The main issue is that AI is all about science, learning and proving things with facts. At the same time, the main concept of faith is unconditional belief. Faith declares the domination of the Supreme Being and requires no proof of its existence. On the other hand, AI operates only with proven facts and logical algorithms.

Another issue is that there are still people of faith who reject most technology or find the idea of becoming a modern-day Luddite appealing. However, we must remember what happened to the real Luddites. They were English textile workers and weavers who in the early 19th century destroyed machinery, especially in the cotton and woolen mills. They believed technology threatened their jobs and could leave them without earnings. Their primary concern was that the machines could be operated by low-skill workers while skilled personnel would lose their jobs. No matter how hard the Luddites tried, the technology still won. Throughout the entire history of technological progress, there are groups of people who oppose it, either on the economic or religious grounds. However, the technology cannot be stopped as its advantages are too obvious.

Reaching out to people of faith

At a robotics conference in Japan, one of the experts said that the Supreme Being made man creative and that He encourages man to increase their potential. He proved his point with empirical research and other common analogy showing how people can reshape their world when they put their mind to work. During his presentation, a woman broke into tears and raised her hand. She asked, “You mean there is more to this than what I currently know? You mean that I have a part to play even if I am not a very technical person?”

This experience shows that those who understand the workings of AI and cryptocurrency must reach out to people of faith. With this in mind, we need to get out there and connect with people explaining to them how things work. Besides, we need technical people to help bringing religious leaders on our side. They could approach them saying, “You know what, we need you here”. It seems this is the subject techies are trying to avoid. However, if we want to reach a wider audience, we must bring our ideas in a way that resonates with them.

We must understand what makes the faithful worried about artificial intelligence. It is only natural for people of faith to see AI as something that is inconsistent with their beliefs. And we can make them see that AI is not a threat to them but a new door to better living. It is exciting to talk about a new investment channel and what it can give you. The main point is what artificial intelligence can do for us and how we can make the most of it.

What makes people of faith concerned about AI?

On more than one occasion, technology and science created a stir in the community of the faithful by undermining some of the Bible’s fundamentals. Take, for example, Charles Darwin’s evolutionary theory that violently clashes with the creationist doctrine claiming that all was created by the Supreme Being.

The invention of AI comes dangerously close to the same conflict. Indeed, the very existence of artificial intelligence challenges the basic postulate of any religion – that God was the maker of all beings. If humans found a way to create an independent thinking being, does that mean that God is not the only one that can create life? Does that mean that artificial intelligence has a soul and can also find faith in God?

This is just one of the concerns that the people of faith have about AI. However, there is still no solution to this problem. Therefore, both the scientists and the faithful should approach the matter of AI from the following position: “We are only humans, and we have no answers to all questions. We should trust one another, as this can bring us closer to seeing the truth”.

AI is here to serve us

A good argument in convincing people to accept AI is that it was initially made to serve the humankind. And this is exactly what it is doing, as artificial intelligence can show great results where the human brain falls behind. The speed of data processing, the power to monitor hundreds of trends simultaneously, the ability to recognize patterns and make predictions – this is what we want from AI.

We make artificial intelligence perform tasks we set to it and cater to our needs. The primary purpose of AI is to make the lives of humans better and more convenient. Scientists all over the world are working on making AI even more productive and efficient.

Powerful channel

A great example of AI serving humans is the implementation of AI-powered investment platforms. The advanced capacities of artificial intelligence work to increase our prosperity and well-being. AI is taking care of our finances by making sure that we invest in the most profitable assets.
